Angel Cottage is in Felindre, on the side of a hill. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s been done up well. The renovation was finished in 2022, so it’s all new inside. Everything is on the ground floor.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own en-suite bathrooms. That's useful. The main room has big doors that open out onto a deck. The view is straight out over the fields towards the Black Mountains and Hay Bluff. It’s a proper view.
The deck is a good size. You can sit out there. It's quiet, so you hear the birds. At night, because there’s no light pollution, you can see the stars clearly.
It’s a rural spot. You’re on the owners' land, part of a working farm. They’re nearby if you need anything.
For getting about, Hay-on-Wye is about six miles. It’s all bookshops and cafes. The festival is in June, but it’s busy then. Brecon is 11 miles the other way. That’s a bit bigger, has the usual shops and a few places to eat.
If you’re walking or cycling, you can start straight from the door. There’s a local riding school too if you want to go horse riding. The National Trust Brecon Beacons page is good for planning walks. The Brecon Beacons National Park site is also useful.
Facilities: it’s got what you’d expect. Wi-Fi, a smart TV, dishwasher, washing machine. There’s bike storage if you bring them. Parking right outside. No pets, sorry.
