The Old Cider Mill

The Old Cider Mill is in Llanstephan, in Mid Wales. It's a converted barn on our land, detached, so it's just you. It sleeps two, one bedroom up top with an en-suite bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The barn is old. Really old. It was built around 1402 to make cider for the hunting lodge across the way. We did it up properly a few years ago, so it's comfortable, but we kept a lot of the original stone and timber. You can feel the history in it.

Downstairs is one big room, a kitchen and living space. There's a Rayburn for cooking and warmth. The stairs up to the bedroom are the original ones, so they're a bit steep and winding, just so you know. Upstairs there's a free-standing bath in the bathroom.

Outside, there's a patio with a view over our fields and some wildlife ponds. You'll probably see a rabbit or two. You can walk straight out from the door. There's plenty of space for dogs to run, but please put them on a lead if you go through the fields with sheep.

The nearest shop and pub are about two and a half miles away in the village. It's quiet here.

For things to do, Brecon Beacons National Park is about half an hour's drive. Hay-on-Wye is a bit further, maybe 40 minutes for the bookshops. Powis Castle is well worth a visit.

What's here: all the bedding and towels, the washing machine, WiFi, a TV, parking right outside. The woodburner is electric, but it looks the part. We allow up to two dogs.
