Cuckoo Lodge
Cuckoo Lodge is in Merbach, on the Herefordshire side of the border. It's a detached holiday lodge, newly built and opened in 2023. The main thing you might want to know is that it has a private hot tub on the deck.
It's all on one level, with an open plan living area. The big bi-folding doors open out onto the deck. There's one bedroom that sleeps four, and one bathroom. They've given it a 4 Star rating.
The lodge is set within the grounds of The Castlefields, which is a pub that does a Sunday carvery. You'd need to book for that. Otherwise, you're a five-mile drive from Hay-on-Wye. That's where all the bookshops are, and the big festival. Hereford and Ross-on-Wye are a short drive for bigger shops.
For walking, you're near the Herefordshire Trail and the Marches Way. Offa's Dyke Path isn't far. The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons are within a 30 minute drive if you want proper hills. There's golf and riding nearby.
Facilities wise: there's a wood burning stove, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
