The Nest is a first floor apartment in Winforton, near Hay-on-Wye. It’s for two people. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s well looked after and comfortable.
It’s an apartment above the main house, so you go up an external staircase to get in. You have your own balcony. It faces south-west, so you get the sun in the evening. It’s quiet here, you mainly hear birds and the river.
The kitchen has what you need if you want to cook. There’s a shower room. The bed is a double. We include all the bedding and towels.
You can bring one dog. There’s an electric vehicle charger on the drive, which you’re welcome to use.
Hay-on-Wye is about ten minutes away by car. It’s famous for books. There are lots of bookshops, a few pubs that do food, and some cafes. You can hire canoes on the River Wye there if that’s your thing.
For walking, you can go straight from the door into the lanes and fields. For bigger hills, the Brecon Beacons are about half an hour’s drive. National Trust Herefordshire has details on some local walks and houses. Brecon Beacons National Park is the site for the mountains.
Hereford is about twenty minutes away. The cathedral is there, with the Mappa Mundi. Brecon is a bit further, maybe forty minutes.
If you’re coming with more people, the cottage next door, Cromwell House, can be booked together with The Nest.
