Steep Holm is in Bredward, just outside Kington. It's a detached bungalow, so everything's on one level. That's good if stairs are a problem. It sleeps five, in three bedrooms, and there's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The place is peaceful. You get a good view over towards the Welsh border from the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is handy. You also get access to about thirty acres of shared land. There are ponds and places to walk. It's very quiet.
For a shop or a pub, you need to go into Kington, which is about a mile and a half away. It's a straightforward drive.
The best thing here is the walking. You can get straight onto the footpaths and lanes. Offa's Dyke runs along Hergest Ridge, which is right there. You can spend a whole day up there. If you like gardens, Hergest Croft Gardens are nearby and worth a visit.
Within about half an hour, you can drive to Leominster or Hay-on-Wye. Hay has all the bookshops. Ludlow, Bromyard, and Hereford are a bit further, maybe twenty miles or so. Hereford Cathedral has the Mappa Mundi, which is interesting if you like that sort of thing.
Facilities wise: it's all included. There's a woodburning stove, WiFi, a TV, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside. No pets, sorry.
