Horsecroft is one of three barn conversions on our working farm in Westbrook, near Hay-on-Wye. It's detached, so you're on your own, and you get a bit of garden with it.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. All the beds are super king-size, but they can be split into twins if you ask beforehand. There are two bathrooms, which is handy for a group. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's comfortable, clean, and recently done up, but it's still a converted barn on a farm, so keep that in mind.
You're right in the countryside here. The owners live on site, and the farm is active. You can walk to a couple of decent country pubs from the property, both about three miles away. The nearest shop is four miles, so you'll want to bring your essentials.
Hay-on-Wye is the big draw, about a ten-minute drive. It's the book town, famous for its festival in May, but it's good year-round for bookshops, cafes, and a poke around. The castle is worth seeing. For walking, you're on the edge of the Black Mountains. You can get up onto Hay Bluff and The Begwyns easily. The Offa's Dyke Path is close by too.
Hereford is about a half-hour drive if you need a city hit for shopping or a wider choice of restaurants.
As for the place itself, it's open plan downstairs. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and all your bedding and towels are included. On-site parking for a couple of cars. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. We've also got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you're bringing little ones.
