The Oak is on the edge of Newchurch. It's a detached house, used to be a pub. You park right outside.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms upstairs, two bathrooms. The stairs are fairly steep, it's that kind of building. The living room has a wood burner. It's a strong 4 Star, so you get good quality things like the bedding and towels.
The garden is lawned, fenced, and private. There's a patio and a barbecue.
Being old, it's level on the ground floor but not a certified accessible property. There's one step up into the house at the front door, and thresholds between rooms inside.
The Offa's Dyke Path runs right past the front gate. You can walk for miles from the door. The village is quiet, just a few houses. The nearest proper shop or pub is a few miles away in Gladestry, or you go to Kington.
Kington is about four miles. It's a small town with bakers, butchers, supermarkets and a few cafes. Hay-on-Wye is seven miles. That's where all the bookshops are, and the festival. Both have plenty of pubs and places to eat.
Within half an hour you can be in Brecon for the Brecon Beacons National Park, or over the border in Hereford. For local walks and history, Offa's Dyke and the Welsh Borders sites are useful.
The facilities are all there: wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Parking for two cars. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is secure for them.
