Glas-Y-Dorlan

This is Glas-Y-Dorlan, up in Felindre in Powys. It's a detached eco house, so it's on its own. Sleeps six, three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and properly finished.

The main thing is the living room. It's circular, which is unusual, and it looks straight out over a little stream. There's a wood burner for the cooler nights.

It's very quiet here, just fields. The local pub is about a hundred yards down the lane and they do food. The village shop is three miles away in Felindre. Hay-on-Wye is about six miles, so that's easy for its bookshops and cafés.

The walkers are sorted. You're right on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. The National Trust looks after a lot of it. The Black Mountains and Offa's Dyke Path are on the doorstep. The area's good for outdoor stuff if that's your thing: canoeing, climbing, horse riding, that sort of thing.

Abergavenny is about twenty minutes by car. They've got a market and the Waitrose. Hereford is just over half an hour.

Just to be clear about the stairs: they're open-tread spiral stairs. They're fine, but you need to pay attention on them.

What's here: proper enclosed garden with a patio and a BBQ, parking right outside, wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.

If you're planning walks, the Brecon Beacons National Park website is useful.
