This is Number Four. It's one of three cottages on Adelaide Place in Bishop Auckland.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. You get your own parking spot and a small courtyard out the back. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is spot on. It's very clean, comfortable and well looked after, but it's not a show home. It's a good base.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher. There's a TV and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included.
The stairs are quite steep. Something to be aware of if you've got bad knees or very small children.
Bishop Auckland Castle is just down the road. It's a proper castle with good grounds. The main event locally in summer is Kynren, the outdoor history show. It's a big spectacle, you see the pyrotechnics from miles away. Booking ahead is essential.
You're right on the edge of the Durham Dales and the North Pennines. The Weardale valley is beautiful for a drive or a walk. Fishing and horse riding are available locally.
Durham city is about a twenty minute drive. The cathedral and castle there are a World Heritage Site. The coast, like Seaham, is about 45 minutes away.
