The Stables

The Stables is a converted stable attached to our house in Bolam. It's all on one level. You get your own private patio garden with a gate.

It sleeps three. Two bedrooms, one is a double and the other has a single bed. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's warm. The woodburner is nice on an evening but the central heating is good anyway.

There's a local pub about a hundred yards up the road. They do food. The shop is in a nearby village, about five miles away, so you'd drive. We've had a Michelin-starred place open up a few miles away if you fancy a treat.

It's a quiet village. You'll see horses going past. The views from here over the Tees Vale are really good. It's proper countryside.

For walking, you can start from the door. There are footpaths and bridleways through the fields and woods. Raby Castle is close by, you can see the deer in the park. Raby Castle is worth a visit. Barnard Castle town is about a twenty minute drive. The Bowes Museum is there and it's quite something. The Bowes Museum.

Further out, Durham city is about a thirty-five minute drive if you want a day out. Cathedral, river, shops, the lot. Visit County Durham has information on everything going on.

Facilities: there's parking right outside. Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring one dog.
