Etherley Dene Farm

Etherley Dene Farm is near Bishop Auckland. It's an old stone farmhouse that sleeps up to nineteen people. It's on its own with gardens around it.

There are eight bedrooms and four bathrooms spread over two floors. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The layout is a bit all over the place because parts were built at different times over about three hundred years. There are oak floors, wooden beams, and panelled walls. The dining room is the main feature, with a big marble fireplace. You can have a real fire in there.

One of the old stables has been turned into a small gym with some basic equipment. The stairs are typical for an old house. They're not dangerous, but you need to watch your step.

There's a local pub about a hundred yards away. It shows sports. Another pub, about half a mile away, does food and is more family-oriented. There's a garage shop a quarter of a mile from the house for essentials. Big supermarkets are about a mile away and they will deliver.

For things to do, you're well placed. Durham and its cathedral are about twenty minutes' drive. Barnard Castle is about the same distance, with the Bowes Museum. Beamish, the open-air museum, is half an hour away. Hamsterley Forest is good for walking and cycling. For a longer day out, the Northumberland coast and Hadrian's Wall are within reach.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site. No pets, I'm afraid.
