Etherley Dene Farm

Etherley Dene Farm is near Bishop Auckland. It's a big, old stone farmhouse built in parts over a few hundred years, so the layout inside is a bit all over the place. You get the whole house and garden to yourselves.

It sleeps up to nineteen people. Eight bedrooms, four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The size is the main thing. It's over 5000 square feet, so there's plenty of room for a big group to spread out.

It's full of old features, wooden beams and panelled walls. The dining room has a marble fireplace with a log fire. The stairs are uneven in places, which you'd expect. One of the old outbuildings has been made into a small gym with some basic equipment.

The garden is mature and enclosed, with a stone summerhouse. There's parking on site.

Facilities are what you'd need: WiFi, TVs, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets.

There's a local pub about a hundred yards away, it shows sports. Another one doing food is about half a mile walk. A garage shop is a quarter of a mile for basics. Most big supermarkets will deliver here.

For walks, the River Wear paths are close by. Hamsterley Forest is about a twenty minute drive for cycling and walking trails. Bishop Auckland itself has Auckland Castle.

Within about half an hour you can get to Beamish Museum, Durham City and its cathedral, or Barnard Castle for the Bowes Museum. The North Pennines area and Weardale are a short drive north. Newcastle and the MetroCentre are under forty minutes by car.
