Beckwick
Beckwick is a bungalow just outside Bishop Auckland. It's detached, quiet, and sits behind a gate in its own private garden. The garden looks onto a small lake. There's a hot tub that seats six.
Inside, it sleeps nine. There are four bedrooms. Three of them have double or king-size beds, and the fourth has a double bed with a single bunk above it. There are three bathrooms, including two en-suites. They were all put in a few years ago. One is a wet room on the ground floor with a walk-in shower and a separate bath.
The living space is spread out. There's a main lounge, and a separate garden room with a TV and a little bar area. There's also a games room with an air hockey table. The kitchen has what you need. There's a washing machine in the utility room.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring up to two dogs.
The town centre is about two miles away. Bishop Auckland has cafes and takeaways. The main attraction is Auckland Castle and its grounds. The Kynren show happens there in the summer, but you need to book tickets well in advance.
Within a half hour drive, you've got a few options. Hamsterley Forest is good for walking and cycling. The National Railway Museum at Shildon is about ten minutes away. You can drive into Weardale to places like Stanhope, or see High Force waterfall. Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum, and Raby Castle are all nearby. Durham city is about twenty minutes away; the cathedral and castle are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
For facilities: it's all on one level, there's parking, the garden is enclosed, and WiFi is included. We provide bedding and towels. A highchair is available.
