Old Stables Cottage is on our farm in Escomb, County Durham. It's detached and sits in its own bit of garden. The view is over our fields where we keep highland cattle. They're quite the characters.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. One bedroom is on the ground floor, the other is a twin up in the loft. The headroom up there is a bit restricted, so mind your head.
The main room is big and light because of the large patio doors. There's a wood burner for colder nights. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. Outside there's a deck with a hot tub. You can sit in it and look at the view.
You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed. Parking is right there.
There's a pub about half a mile away that does food. Bishop Auckland is a couple of miles for supermarkets and shops. The Saxon church here in Escomb is worth a look. It's been in use since around 670 AD.
For days out, Hamsterley Forest is about ten minutes' drive. Good for walking and cycling. Barnard Castle is a nice market town, about eight miles. Raby Castle is close by too, you can see the deer there. Durham city is under half an hour away. The cathedral and castle are World Heritage sites. There are good riverside walks.
If you're into fishing, the River Wear is in the valley. You'd need your own licence.
