Low Stonebank Cottage

Low Stonebank Cottage is in Newfield, a quiet village about eight miles from Durham. It's a one-up one-down terraced cottage, sleeps two. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main room is open plan. It's got a little kitchenette, a sofa, and a small bistro table to eat at. Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed under the dormer window. The bathroom has a bath with a shower attachment over it. There's a small enclosed yard out the back with a chair or two.

You can walk straight out onto footpaths from the door. The River Wear is nearby for a stroll. Bishop Auckland is three and a half miles away for shops and food. The big thing there is Auckland Castle and, in the summer, the Kynren show. You'd need to book that in advance.

Durham city is the main draw. The cathedral and castle are world heritage. You can walk the walls, go on a boat trip, or just sit by the river. There's usually something on, like the Lumiere festival. Lots of places to eat.

For a full day out, Beamish Museum is about half an hour's drive. It's a living history museum. Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum are in that direction too. High Force waterfall is up in Teesdale, maybe 40 minutes away if the traffic's light.

The place has WiFi, a smart TV, all bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the street outside. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
