Low Stonebank Cottage

Low Stonebank Cottage is in Newfield, a quiet village near Bishop Auckland. It's a small, one-up-one-down cottage for two people. We've given it a 4 Star rating.

The main room has the kitchen, a sofa, and a TV. There's a small table for two by the window. The kitchen is new and has what you need. The stairs go up from there. They're normal stairs, but mind your head at the top.

Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed and a dormer window. The bathroom is up there too, with a bath that has a shower attachment over it.

Outside the back door there's an enclosed patio area with a table and chairs. It's private.

You can walk straight from the cottage onto public footpaths. The River Wear is nearby for a stroll. Bishop Auckland is about three miles away for shops and a few pubs. The main thing there is Auckland Castle. They also do the Kynren show in the summer, but you need to book that well in advance.

Durham is eight miles away. You've got the cathedral and castle, and the river walks are good. It's a proper city with decent restaurants.

For a day out, Beamish Museum is about half an hour's drive. It's an open-air museum. For a walk, High Force waterfall in Teesdale is maybe 40 minutes away. The North Pennines and the Durham coast are both within easy reach by car.

The cottage has Wi-Fi, a TV, all the bedding and towels are included, and the electricity is in the price. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's parking for one car on the street right outside.
