The Loft
The Loft is in Brandon, which is a village about five miles west of Durham city centre. It's a first-floor apartment for two people. You're above the owners' garage and workshop. It's quiet.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well kept and modern. The space is all open plan, which makes it feel bigger than it is. The ceiling is high, so it's light. There's a king-size bed in an alcove off the main room, and an ensuite shower room.
Outside, you get a private courtyard with a table and chairs. It's enclosed.
There's a pub about a hundred yards away. They do food. For a bigger shop or more places to eat, you'd drive into Durham. That takes about ten minutes.
Durham is the main thing here. The cathedral and castle are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can walk around the river or through the town. It's a good day out.
If you want to go further, Beamish Museum is about 25 minutes by car. The National Trust's Gibside is similar distance. For the coast, it's under 20 miles to places like Seaham.
