Hall Farm Cottage

Hall Farm Cottage is our place in Byers Green, County Durham. It's a 500 year old barn we converted. It's detached. You look out over fields. It's very quiet.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. It's comfortable. We've kept a wood burning stove in there. There's a hot tub on the private patio.

The lane doesn't go anywhere, so there's no traffic. You'll see a lot of birds. You can walk straight out into the countryside from the door.

There's a pub and a restaurant about a quarter of a mile away. The nearest shop is two miles, in Spennymoor.

You can drive into Durham in about 15 minutes. It's a good base. Bishop Auckland is the same distance, that's where Auckland Castle is. For a day out, Raby Castle and the Bowes Museum are both worth a visit. The Durham Dales start not far from here.

If you like industrial heritage, Beamish Museum is within half an hour. So is the railway museum at Shildon. For walking, you've got Weardale and Teesdale on the doorstep, and it's about an hour and a half to the Northumberland coast or Hadrian's Wall.

Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry. There's another cottage on the same site, but they're separate.

Useful links: Durham Council Countryside for local walks, and National Trust North East for days out.
