Applegarth House is in Howlish, just outside Bishop Auckland in County Durham. It's a detached house. Sleeps up to eleven, in five bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, so it works for a few families together. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.
The kitchen is big, with a good table for meals. The living room is spacious too, with a multi-fuel burner. The garden at the back is lawned and looks out over fields. There's a covered seating area at the front, and a small play area for children.
Upstairs, there's a games room on the first floor with a full-sized pool table and an Xbox. The master bedroom has a dressing room and a large en-suite bathroom. One of the double bedrooms has a balcony. On the second floor, one of the bedrooms has a kingsize and a single bed, which is handy.
There's a hot tub in the garden.
For getting around, you're about three miles from Bishop Auckland town centre. There's a shop half a mile away, and a pub and restaurant about a mile away.
If you're here for Kynren, the main seating area is about a six minute drive. It's a big outdoor show about history, on weekends from late June to September.
Within about half an hour you can get to Durham. The cathedral and castle are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other places nearby include Binchester Roman Fort, Auckland Castle, and the railway museum in Shildon.
The house backs onto fields with public footpaths, so it's good for walks straight from the door. For wider exploring, the North Pennines AONB and the coast are both within a reasonable drive.
Facilities: Wifi, parking on site, bedding and towels included. It has a washing machine, dishwasher, cot, highchair, and stairgate. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
