Applegarth House is in Howlish, near Bishop Auckland. It's a detached house, so you've got your own space. It's big, sleeps up to eleven. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms.
The rating is 4 Star. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a big kitchen with a good table for everyone to eat together. The living room is spacious, with a multi-fuel stove for cold evenings.
The main bedroom is large, with a kingsize bed, a dressing room, and its own bathroom. One of the other bedrooms has a balcony that looks over the fields. There's a games room on the first floor with a full-size pool table and an Xbox.
Upstairs on the second floor, there’s a fifth bedroom that works well for a family, as it has a kingsize bed and a single bed together. There's another bathroom up there with a bath and a separate shower.
The gardens are good. There's a lawn at the back and a small play area for children at the front. There's also a hot tub.
You're out in the countryside, with fields right behind the house. It's quiet. There are public footpaths nearby if you want to walk straight from the door.
Bishop Auckland is about three miles away for shops and things. The Kynren show ground is very close, about a two and a half mile walk or a short drive. It's a big outdoor show about history, runs weekends in the summer.
Within about a thirty minute drive you've got a few places. Durham city is about ten miles north. The cathedral and castle are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There's also the Binchester Roman Fort and the Locomotion museum in Shildon.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
