The Coach House is at Houghton Bank, near Heighington. It's in the grounds of our house but you can't see our windows from yours. It's a separate building.
It's for two people, one bedroom. There's a single bed in a little dressing room off the main bedroom, so it could work for a child if you have one. The bathroom's upstairs with a big roll-top bath and a separate shower. The stairs are a standard flight, not a ladder.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well finished. There's underfloor heating, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and the wifi works fine. The garden area is just for you, with a table and chairs. Parking is right outside.
There's a local shop and a pub about a mile away in Heighington village. The pub does food. You're five minutes from the A1, so getting around is easy.
Durham is about twenty minutes by car. The cathedral and castle are the main draw, but there are good shops and restaurants too. For a walk, Low Barns Nature Reserve is close by. Hamsterley Forest is good for longer walks or cycling, about a twenty-five minute drive.
You can get to the coast, the North York Moors, or Northumberland in under an hour if you want a day out. The Yorkshire Dales are about the same.
