Featherstone House is a stone bungalow in Coatham Mundeville, near Darlington. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of the wall. It's all on the ground floor, which is useful. The place was refurbished in 2022 so it's in good order. It's spacious, sleeps eight.
You've got four bedrooms. One king with an ensuite shower room, another king, a double, and a twin. Two other bathrooms, one with a bath. The lounge has a wood burner and a smart TV. There's a separate dining room and an open-plan kitchen that leads into a big conservatory. The sunroom at the front gets the evening light.
Outside, there's a raised deck with a hot tub, sofas, and a table. The garden is lawned and it backs onto a field. You can walk straight out into the meadow from there.
The Hall Garth Hotel is about a five-minute walk. They do coffee, meals, and afternoon tea. Their Stables Bar does food too. The old golf course there is now a nature reserve, good for dog walks.
Darlington town centre is close. The new Hopetown railway museum is there. There's a bus stop right outside the house, goes to Darlington or into Durham city. The train station gets you to York, Durham, or Newcastle in about half an hour.
If you drive, you can be in Richmond or Northallerton quickly. Durham city centre, with the cathedral and castle, is under half an hour away. For a big day out, Beamish Museum is great. The North Pennines and High Force waterfall are within reach. The coast, either north towards Northumberland or south to Yorkshire, is an option for a day trip.
It's a 4 Star place. Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs.
