The Hen House is in Brandon, just outside Durham. It's a detached building behind our house. You've got your own private space.
It's a one-bedroom place for two people. It's compact, all on one level. Everything's there, just in a smaller space. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
It's about two miles into Durham city centre. You can walk it in around forty minutes, or it's a short drive. Handy if you're visiting someone at the university. The Freemans Quay leisure centre and pool are nearby if you fancy a swim.
There's a shop and a pub about a mile away. The pub serves food.
From here, you can get out into the countryside quite easily. There are good walks along the river and into the villages. Durham Heritage Coast is about half an hour's drive. The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are both within an hour for a day trip.
What's here: a washing machine, TV, Wi-Fi, your own enclosed patio area, and bike storage. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
There's another cottage next door called The Stables. It sleeps three. You can book both together if you're a bigger group.
