Colliery Cottage

Colliery Cottage is in Quebec, County Durham. It's a former miner's cottage, end of terrace, in a quiet village. The village is called Cornsay Colliery. It's rural, so you get fields and woods right there, but you're only about seven miles from Durham city.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's been done up well. Everything works and it's comfortable. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed facing the window, so you wake up looking over the fields. The second room has twin beds that can be zipped together to make another kingsize if you ask when you book.

The living room is a good size with a sofa and chairs. The view from the front window is over Steeley Hill Woods. There's a separate dining room with a table and a wood burner for chilly evenings. The kitchen leads off from there. Out the back is a closed-in garden with grass and a table and chairs.

The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it. Towels and some toiletries are provided.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's a children's park right opposite the cottage, at the edge of the woods, which are good for a short walk.

For days out, Durham is the main one. It's a beautiful city with the cathedral and castle. You can be in Sunderland or Newcastle in under half an hour if you want shopping or an arena show. The coast, like Seaham, is about 45 minutes' drive.

If you like walking, Hamsterley Forest and Derwent Reservoir are within easy reach. Beamish Museum is a big draw, it's an open-air living museum about the North East's history. Kynren is an outdoor show about English history that runs in the summer, near Bishop Auckland.

In terms of what's here, there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, a cot and highchair if needed, and all bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the street outside the cottage.
