Browney Cottage

Browney Cottage is in East Butsfield, near Lanchester. It's a terraced cottage, but it's detached at one end so you're only joined on one side. There's a private garden out the back, and parking for two cars.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean and comfortable but not a luxury place. It's a farmhouse layout, so the living room is at the front and the kitchen is at the back. There's a wood burner in the living room.

The garden is quiet. You get a good view from it.

Lanchester village is about two miles away. There are a couple of pubs that do food, a few shops, and a small supermarket.

Hall Hill Farm is just down the road, maybe a mile away. Your booking includes free entry. It's a working farm with animals and play areas for kids. It's handy, especially with children.

For walking, you're on the edge of good countryside. There are footpaths straight from the door. The Derwent Walk and Waskerley Way, which are old railway lines, are nearby for cycling or walking.

Weardale and Teesdale are about a twenty to thirty minute drive west. That's proper open countryside. Stanhope and Wolsingham are nice villages to drive to.

Durham is about ten miles east. It's easy to drive to for the day. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city centre is good for a wander.

Beamish Museum is about seven miles away. Newcastle city centre is about fourteen miles. The coast, like Seaham, is about twenty-four miles.

Facilities are what you'd expect: washing machine, TV, WiFi, that sort of thing. Bedding and towels are included. The stairs are a typical cottage style, so they’re a bit steeper than modern ones.
