Sycamore Cottage is in Iveston, just outside Lanchester. It's detached, so you're on your own. There's a fair bit of garden that's fenced in. We live next door if you need anything.
It's a three star place. That means it's clean and comfortable, but not full of gadgets. It's for four people, but it's one bedroom with a very big bed and a sofa bed in the lounge. The bathroom is downstairs.
There's a wood burning stove. We leave you some logs to get started. The heating is electric. There's a washing machine, TV, and wifi. Parking is right outside.
You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, but check the gate latches as you go out.
Lanchester is about a mile and a half away. It's a nice walk down by the river. The village has a few pubs that do food, a chip shop, and a small supermarket.
Durham is twenty minutes by car. The cathedral and the castle are the main things to see. The university puts on events through the year.
If you like walking, you can go straight from the door. For a bigger day out, Teesdale and Weardale are half an hour's drive. They're proper countryside. The National Trust has a few places up there. For history, Hadrian's Wall is about an hour away. Beamish Museum is also about half an hour.
Newcastle is forty minutes if you want a city day. The Metrocentre is on the way.
