John Wesley Cottage is in Tantobie. It's one of two cottages converted from barns, the other is the Wesleyan Cottage next door. They're separate, so you get your own place. The view from the front is over fields, it's quiet.
It sleeps six, three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, been done up but it's not modern inside, it's an old building.
The ceilings are low in the hallways, just so you're aware. The kitchen is open plan with the living area.
There's a washing machine, a cot and highchair if you need them, bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.
For a shop you need to go about half a mile. The local pub is a bit further, maybe a fifteen minute walk.
You're well placed for getting out. Beamish Museum is about twenty minutes by car. It's a big open air museum, you can easily spend a day there. Durham City is about half an hour's drive, the cathedral is worth seeing. Durham Cathedral.
If you fancy the coast, it's about forty minutes to get to places like Seaham. Northumberland, like Alnwick Castle, is just over an hour away. The Northumberland National Park is in that direction too.
Locally, there are public footpaths and cycle tracks from the village. The Raby Castle estate with the deer park is about a forty minute drive. Raby Castle.
I've put some links below to the main sites for planning days out.
