Oswin Lodge

Oswin Lodge is in Ebchester, right on the River Derwent. It’s one of the newer lodges here, so everything feels fresh. From the back you just look out over the fields. It's quiet.

It sleeps six, with two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living space. There’s one bathroom, but it’s a good size with a decent shower. It’s got the 5 Star rating, which basically means it's well kitted out. You’ve got a wood burner, a dishwasher, a coffee machine, all that sort of stuff. The beds are comfortable.

There’s a private hot tub out the back. It’s screened for privacy. Robes are provided for it.

On site, there’s a small shared bar area and a terrace with picnic tables. It’s for families and couples only, no hen or stag groups.

You can walk down to the river from the lodge. There’s a boathouse where you can hire canoes or kayaks, and fishing permits are available. The Derwent Walk is right there for cycling or walking.

There’s a village shop and a couple of places to eat within walking distance. Beamish Museum is about a 20-minute drive. It’s a big open-air museum, you can spend a whole day there. Beamish Museum.

You’re right on the border here. Hexham is about 15 miles away if you need bigger shops or a leisure centre. Corbridge is a bit closer, maybe 10 miles, nice for a wander and a coffee.

For a day out, you can drive up to the Northumberland coast in under an hour. Places like Bamburgh or Holy Island. The National Trust has a lot of properties up there. Boat trips to the Farne Islands from Seahouses are good if you want to see seals and birds.

Facilities: all the things you’d expect like WiFi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
