Housesteads Lodge is in Ebchester, County Durham. It’s one of nine lodges on site, all single-storey. The view is over open fields.
It sleeps six. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. The living area is open plan. There’s a wood burner. The kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge and freezer. The shower is good. The bathroom has a heated towel rail.
Outside, there’s a private garden with furniture and your own six-seater hot tub.
One of the lodges here, Coria Lodge, is adapted for wheelchair users. It has a ramp, wider doors, raised sockets and a hoist. The bathroom has a large, accessible shower with a grab rail.
On site, there’s a boat house on the River Derwent. You can buy a fishing permit. The Derwent Walkway is a few hundred yards away for walks and cycling.
The village of Ebchester is half a mile away. There’s a shop, a pub and some restaurants within walking distance.
In terms of location, you’re right on the border of County Durham and Northumberland. Durham city is about 15 miles away. It’s a World Heritage site. Hexham is about 15 miles in the other direction, with its abbey and shops. Corbridge is about 10 miles away.
Hadrian's Wall is nearby. The closest major bit is probably at Housesteads Fort, which is about a 25-minute drive. For wider planning, the North Pennines AONB site is useful.
