The Cottage is on the main street in Hedley on the Hill. It's semi-detached. You get a small enclosed garden out the back, which is handy if you're bringing a dog. The view from the village over the Tyne Valley is very good.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. The shower is over the bath and there's a seat in there, which some people find useful.
The local pub is about fifty yards away, straight across the road. It's won awards for its food. The nearest shop is a few miles away in Corbridge, so it's best to bring what you need for your first day.
You're right in the middle of Hadrian's Wall country. Corbridge is about a fifteen minute drive. It's a nice little market town with pubs and shops. You can pick up the Hadrian's Wall Path from there. For Roman forts, Housesteads and Chesters are within a twenty minute drive.
Newcastle is about forty minutes by car if you want city things or the airport. Hexham is closer, maybe twenty minutes, and has the abbey. The Northumberland coast, like Alnmouth or Warkworth, is under an hour's drive.
In the cottage there's a wood burning stove, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site.
