The Smithy is at the end of a quiet lane, just outside Ovington village. It's a detached stone cottage, built in the 1850s when it was a forge. It's small, cosy and sleeps up to three people, but it's really best for a couple.
There's one bedroom and one bathroom. It has a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean without being high-end. The layout is a bit unusual because of the old building. The main living area is upstairs.
You can walk into Ovington in a few minutes. There's a village pub that does food. The bigger town is Prudhoe, about a mile and a half away. It has shops, takeaways, and a big Tesco. The Riverside Country Park in Prudhoe is nice for a walk by the Tyne.
You're right in the Tyne Valley here. Hexham is about a 20-minute drive west. It's a lovely market town with the abbey and lots of independent shops. Going east, you're about half an hour from the edge of Newcastle for city things.
For days out, Corbridge is close, and you can be in the Northumberland National Park in under 30 minutes. Hadrian's Wall is all along this area. The English Heritage and National Trust sites like Housesteads Fort are within easy reach.
The facilities are straightforward. There's a TV, WiFi, and all your bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. There's an electric vehicle charger. We accept up to two well-behaved dogs.
