South Farm Cottage is in Halton Shields, between Corbridge and Matfen. It's a stone building from the 18th century, used to be a byre. It's Grade II listed. You get the whole cottage and garden to yourselves.
It sleeps four people, two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's well kept and comfortable. The stairs are typical cottage stairs, a bit steeper than modern ones.
The lounge has a stone fireplace and exposed beams. The kitchen is modern, it has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a proper enclosed garden that's quite private.
It's a rural spot, so it's quiet. There is a local pub within walking distance. You'll need a car. Parking is on the gravel next to the cottage.
Corbridge is about a ten minute drive. Nice little town, some shops and cafes. Hexham is maybe fifteen minutes. It has a big abbey and a racecourse. For a big day out, you can be in the heart of Northumberland National Park in under half an hour, or at the coast around Alnmouth in a similar time.
If you're planning trips, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park and National Trust North East. The Hadrian's Wall sites are very close, most are managed by English Heritage.
WiFi is included. No pets, sorry.
