Aydon Cottage Aydon

Aydon Cottage is in the hamlet of Aydon, just outside Corbridge. It's detached and sits back from the quiet lane. You've got the whole garden to yourself. There's a good lawn at the back that feels very open, and a smaller bit with flowers at the front.

It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star rating, which is right. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious. There are low beams and the doorways aren't tall. You'll remember to duck after the first time.

There's a wood burning stove in the living room. It works well. We've left some logs to get you started. For facilities, you've got the basics covered: WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking on the drive. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.

The shop and pubs are in Corbridge, which is about two miles away. It's a nice walk across the fields if you're feeling energetic, but you'll probably drive.

For things to do, you're well placed. You can walk to Aydon Castle from here, it's less than a mile. It's an English Heritage site and it's very quiet. Corbridge itself has the Roman town and a good museum. Hexham is about ten minutes by car. The coast at Tynemouth or Alnmouth is roughly half an hour. If you want to head into the city, Newcastle is about twenty-five minutes.
