For a day out, you're well placed. Hadrian's Wall is a short drive. The National Trust's Cherryburn and English Heritage's Prudhoe Castle are both close. Beamish Museum is about half an hour away.
You're about 15 miles from the coast, so a beach day is possible. For walks and planning, the Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast sites are useful.
