The Gin Gan Cottage is out near Ryal. It's next to our house, on our plot. It's a barn conversion we did years ago. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You get two little outside areas. One catches the morning sun, the other gets the afternoon sun. The conservatory dining room is a nice spot in the evening, especially if there's a good sunset.
The stairs inside are a proper, steep cottage staircase, just so you know. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right outside.
You're in a quiet hamlet here. Matfen village is about three miles away. They've got a pub, a shop, and a tea room there. Corbridge is about nine miles, that's a nice historic village with more pubs and shops. Hexham is 13 miles for a proper market town.
For history, you're just north of Hadrian's Wall. English Heritage has all the details for the wall sites. The Sill visitor centre at Once Brewed is about 19 miles away and is worth a visit.
Newcastle city centre is about a 30 minute drive, 22 miles. Good for a day out or an evening if you want theatres and restaurants.
The north Northumberland coast, like Alnwick and Craster, is about 35 miles if you fancy a trip to the sea. It's a nice drive.
If you're coming for a wedding at Matfen Hall, it's very close, about two and a half miles.
