The Gin Gan Cottage is in Ryal. It's a converted barn, semi-detached, next to our house. It sleeps two, one bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is clean and comfortable, but it's old, parts are from the 1800s. The walls are thick. The Wi-Fi works fine.
You get two little areas to sit outside. One at the front catches the morning sun. The one at the side is better in the afternoon. The conservatory is a good spot to watch the sunset, if you get a clear one.
It's very quiet here. The hamlet is tiny, just a few houses and a church. The church is Norman, very old. You're north of Hadrian's Wall. For a shop or a pub, you need to go to Matfen village, about three miles away. They have a pub, a shop, and a tea room. Corbridge is about nine miles, it's nice for a wander and has more pubs.
If you're here for a wedding, Matfen Hall is two and a half miles down the road. They have a golf course and a spa.
For days out, Hexham is 13 miles. It's got an abbey and shops. The Sill visitor centre at Once Brewed is 19 miles, that's right on Hadrian's Wall. Newcastle is 22 miles if you want a city trip, for restaurants or the theatre. The Northumberland coast, like Alnmouth or Craster, is about a 45 minute drive. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are a bit further, maybe 50 minutes.
Stuff that's here: parking right outside, an electric vehicle charger, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's bike storage. No pets, sorry.
