Methodist Cottage is in Tantobie, near Stanley. It used to be a barn, so the walls are thick and the windows are deep. It's detached, so you're on your own, and it looks out onto fields.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. Everything's included, like bedding and towels. There's a washing machine and parking right outside.
The village shop is about a five minute walk. The pub's about the same. They do food. For bigger shops, you'd want to drive to Stanley.
It's a good spot if you want to walk or cycle without driving first. The roads are quiet.
Beamish Museum is about twenty minutes away by car. It's a big open-air museum, you can easily spend a whole day there. Durham City is about half an hour. The coast, like Seaham, is about forty minutes. If you want to go further, Newcastle and the Metro Centre are within an hour, and you can get into Northumberland for the castles and beaches in about the same time.
