The Cart Shed Witton Gilbert

The Cart Shed is in Witton Gilbert, just west of Durham. It's detached and next to our house. We built it as a single-storey place, so it's all on one level. Good for anyone who finds stairs difficult. There are large windows and the ceilings are high, so it feels quite open.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms. Two of those bedrooms have zip-and-link beds, so you can have them as twins or doubles. There are two bathrooms. One has a walk-in shower and the other has a freestanding bath and a separate shower.

The main room is open plan. The floor is solid wood and there's a wood burner for colder days. Sliding doors open straight into your own garden, which is enclosed. The kitchen has what you'd need: dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, oven, hob.

The village has a good farm shop and a couple of pubs that do food. They’re about half a mile away. Durham is a ten-minute drive. The cathedral and castle are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's a good city for walking around, with cafes and restaurants by the river.

Within about half an hour you can get to Beamish Museum, the Angel of the North, or the MetroCentre for shopping. Newcastle is about 25 miles away.

Facilities: there's parking right outside. The garden has a patio and a BBQ. We include all bedding and towels. A cot and highchair are here if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
