The Cart Shed is in Witton Gilbert, just outside Durham. It's a detached bungalow, next to our house. It's all on one level. The doors onto the garden are sliding, so there are no steps. It's built for easy access.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an ensuite. The master has a super king bed. The other two bedrooms have zip-and-link beds, so you can have them as two singles or a double each.
The main room is open plan. There's a wood burner. The kitchen has everything: dishwasher, washing machine, the lot. The ceilings are high with some wooden beams. It feels spacious.
The garden is enclosed and private. There's parking right outside.
In the village, there's a farm shop and a couple of pubs that do decent food. It's about half a mile walk. Good for walks straight from the door, paths go into Durham or out into the countryside.
Durham is ten minutes in the car. The cathedral and castle are the main sights, they're a UNESCO site. Lots of cafes and restaurants. You can go on the river. The Lumiere Festival is on every other November, it's worth seeing if you're here then.
Within half an hour you can get to Beamish Museum, which is a whole day out. The Angel of the North is about 25 minutes away. The MetroCentre for shopping, or Newcastle for a night out, are also within that drive.
The coast is about 17 or 18 miles. Seaham or South Shields are the nearest bits.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. WiFi and TV. Underfloor heating in the bathrooms. You can bring two dogs. It has a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard.
