Roslyn Cottage
Roslyn Cottage is in Hamsterley, which is a village in County Durham. It's a detached cottage, so no one's on the other side of the wall. It's been done up from old farm buildings.

The local pub and a restaurant are about 200 yards away. The nearest proper shop is about five miles away in Barnard Castle, so come prepared.

You're between Teesdale and Weardale. For a good walk, High Force waterfall is about a 25 minute drive. Durham city is about half an hour away. The cathedral and castle are worth seeing. Visit Durham has information.
Beamish museum is about a 40 minute drive. It's an open air museum, you can spend a whole day there. Beamish is the site.
If you fancied a day at the coast, the Northumberland beaches and castles like Bamburgh are just over an hour's drive. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
