Durham Cottage is in Wolsingham up in the Durham Dales. It's a semi-detached cottage, one of a group. The views are good, over our own land, which is fields and woodland. You'll share the land with sheep and pheasants.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not a show home. The kitchen has everything you'd need.
On site, there's an indoor heated swimming pool you can book slots for. There's a games room with a full-size snooker table. There's also a shared hot tub and a small fishing lake.
Wolsingham village is about a mile away. It's got a couple of shops and pubs. The nearest proper supermarket is in Bishop Auckland, about a 20-minute drive.
The cottage is good for walking. Footpaths start right from the grounds. Hamsterley Forest is ten minutes away by car for mountain biking or walking. Tunstall Reservoir is close too.
For days out, Beamish Museum is about 25 minutes. It's a great living history museum. Durham city is about half an hour away. The cathedral and castle are the main things to see. High Force waterfall is about 40 minutes north.
In terms of facilities, it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a BBQ. There's parking. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. The garden is enclosed but not totally dog-proof, so you'd need to keep an eye.
