Durham Cottage Wolsingham

Durham Cottage is one of four holiday cottages we have here at Bowlees, near Wolsingham in County Durham. It's semi-detached, sleeps eight, and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's well equipped and comfortable.

The cottage is on a hillside. You look out over our land, which is about 60 acres. There are fields and woods. It's quiet.

Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burning stove. The stairs are fine. Upstairs, the bedrooms are a good size. We include all bedding and towels.

Outside, you have your own patio and garden area with a BBQ. There's parking right outside.

As well as your own space, you get access to the shared facilities on site. There's a heated indoor swimming pool, a games room with a full size snooker table, and a shared hot tub. There's also a fishing lake on the property you can use.

The location is good for walking and cycling. Public footpaths and cycle routes go right from our grounds into the woods and countryside. Tunstall Reservoir is close by for a stroll. Hamsterley Forest is about a ten minute drive, they have miles of trails for bikes and walking.

If you want to go further out, Durham city is roughly half an hour away. The cathedral and castle are a World Heritage Site. Beamish Museum is about 25 minutes drive, it's a good day out. For a big waterfall, High Force is maybe 40 minutes. The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is all around us. North Pennines AONB.

Practical stuff: we're pet friendly, you can bring up to two dogs. We have a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. WiFi is included. The nearest shop and pub are in Wolsingham, about a mile and a half away.
