The Old School is in Frosterley, which is a small village in Weardale. It used to be the actual village school. It's a big, detached house.
It sleeps fifteen people, which tells you how big it is. There are seven bedrooms and four bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. It was renovated a while back, so everything works.
The garden is nice and gets the sun. There's a south-facing patio. You get a good view of the valley from the main living room and one of the bedrooms.
We're on the same site as our caravan park, but it's for privately owned caravans only, so it's quiet. You might see the owners coming and going, but that's about it.
The stairs are fine. They're normal house stairs. The kitchen has a dishwasher, and there's a washing machine in the utility room. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
There's a shop about a three-minute walk away and a pub about ten minutes. Both are handy.
This is walking and cycling country right from the door. For a day out, Barnard Castle is about half an hour's drive. Durham is maybe forty minutes. Newcastle is a bit further, maybe fifty minutes if the traffic's good. The Lake District is about an hour west.
