Riverside Cottage Stanhope

Riverside Cottage is in Stanhope, right by the river. It's a two-bedroom place that sleeps four. You get a little enclosed yard out the back.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It was all redone in 2021, so everything's clean and fresh. It's open plan downstairs, which is handy. The stairs are a bit narrow, like most old cottages here.

There's one bathroom. It's a good size with a proper shower. Both bedrooms are doubles. From the main bedroom you can get straight out into the yard.

Stanhope's a small market town. You've got a butcher, a baker, a couple of cafes, and a fish and chip shop all a few minutes' walk away. The Bonny Moorhen pub does food and it's decent. They sometimes have live music.

If you're here to walk, you're in the right spot. You can start straight from the door. The Durham Dales Centre in town is useful for maps. The Weardale Railway is here too, which is good if you've got kids. The open-air swimming pool is a bit of a local feature, it's heated.

Within about half an hour's drive you've got Hamsterley Forest for cycling, High Force waterfall, and Derwent Reservoir. Durham city, with the cathedral and castle, is about 40 minutes by car.

For facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, a TV, and bedding and towels are included. It's wheelchair accessible to get in. You can bring up to two dogs.

It can be booked together with Squirrel Cottage next door if you need more space.
