The Croft is on the main street in Stanhope. It's a three bedroom cottage, sleeps six. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is good. We renovated it a couple of years ago, so everything works and it's a nice, bright space.
There's a decent sized living room with a Smart TV. The fireplace has an electric stove in it to keep things cosy. The kitchen is right next to it, with a dining table. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. We provide all the bedding and towels.
Bedrooms are upstairs. Two look out over the front towards the fields and the hills. The stairs are typical cottage stairs, so you need to watch your step.
Outside, there's a small enclosed yard with a table and chairs. Good for a coffee. You can bring up to two dogs.
Everything you need is within a few minutes' walk. There's a pub and a tapas place just around the corner. Shops, cafes, and a butcher are on the high street. The Durham Dales Centre is handy for local walking maps.
You can walk or cycle straight from the door into the North Pennines. Hamsterley Forest is about a fifteen minute drive for mountain biking. The Weardale Railway starts in Stanhope too, kids usually like that.
For a day out, Raby Castle is close. Barnard Castle is about half an hour away, and it's got the Bowes Museum and some nice river walks. High Force waterfall is worth seeing. Durham city is under forty minutes by car if you want the cathedral and castle.
