East Bridge End Farm is near Frosterley, up a track off the main road. It's a proper old farmhouse, stone-built, and you get good views over the fields from the back. It's quiet. You'll hear sheep.
It sleeps five. That's in two bedrooms, so it's a bit of a squeeze for five adults, but fine for a family. One bathroom with a shower over the bath. It's got a 3 star rating, which is about right. It's clean and warm, but it's not new. The floors are a bit uneven in places. That's just how it is.
There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave some logs to get you started. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garden is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs and kids. You can park right outside.
The nearest pub is about half a mile walk down the lane. They do food. The shop is in Frosterley, about three quarters of a mile. Stanhope has more shops and a couple of pubs, that's three miles away.
You can walk straight from the door onto the footpaths. It's good walking country. Hamsterley Forest is about a 15 minute drive for cycling or walking. If you fish, the Wear is right there.
For a day out, you're well placed. The North Pennines AONB is all around you. The Yorkshire Dales are about half an hour south. Durham city is about 40 minutes drive for the cathedral. Northumberland and the Lakes are both within an hour and a half if you don't mind the driving.
We take up to two well-behaved dogs. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair in the cupboard under the stairs.
