Fawnlea Cottage

This is Fawnlea Cottage in Staindrop. It's a pretty quiet spot. The cottage is in a courtyard attached to my place, but you've got your own front door and garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs or kids.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The living space is open-plan – kitchen, dining area and sitting room all together.

Staindrop village is about a five minute walk. There's a shop, a post office, a pub, and a couple of places to eat. The pub does food.

Raby Castle is right there. You can walk to it from the cottage, it's that close. Across the road, there's a nice tree-lined walk that follows the river. Plenty of other footpaths start from the door too.

For days out, Barnard Castle is ten minutes' drive. They've got the castle ruins and a proper market town with shops. The Bowes Museum is about fifteen minutes away. High Force waterfall is maybe twenty minutes. Beamish Museum is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. Bishop Auckland is ten minutes away if you need big shops.

Further afield, you've got the North Yorkshire Dales, Durham city, and the coast all within an hour's drive. Hadrian's Wall is about the same.

For facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, wifi, TV, and parking. You can bring up to two dogs. There's bike storage if you need it.
