Grange Cottage

Grange Cottage is in Ovington, County Durham. It's a detached cottage on our family farm, set in about ten acres of fields. The main thing is it's all on one level and the doors are wide, so it's good if you have mobility issues or just don't want stairs.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One has a kingsize bed with an en-suite shower room. The other has two singles that can be zipped together to make a super kingsize if you ask beforehand. There's a second bathroom with a bath and shower over it. Both bedrooms are a good size.

The kitchen and living area are open plan. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a washing machine, and a coffee machine. The living room has sofas and an electric stove that looks like a wood burner. Two sets of patio doors open out onto a south-facing patio. It's enclosed, so it's safe for dogs.

We live on site. We can accept up to two well-behaved dogs. There's stabling available if you're bringing horses, but you'd need to arrange that with me directly.

The local pub is about a fifteen minute walk away in the hamlet. They do food and local ales. The nearest shop is in Gainford, about four miles away.

For days out, Barnard Castle is a short drive. It's a market town with a high street, usual shops, and the Bowes Museum. Richmond is about twenty minutes away; you can walk the castle walls there. The North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales are both within half an hour for walking. York is about an hour's drive if you fancy a city day.

Things you might want to know: It has a 4 Star rating. All bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. There's parking for two cars on the private driveway, and we can sort more if needed. The WiFi is here but it's a farm, so it's functional, not super fast.
