2 The Reading Room Cottages is one of a pair, right in the middle of Barningham village. It's on the Barningham Estate, and looks out over the village green.
It sleeps three, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable, not that it's ultra-modern. The style is traditional, with a mix of old and new furniture. It's warm and dry.
The local pub is about 25 yards from your front door. They do good food. There's a village shop about 500 yards away.
The cottage is wheelchair accessible at the entrance. Inside, it's all on one level except for the bedrooms, which are up a flight of stairs. So the living area is step-free.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's a patio garden, parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. All bedding and towels are included.
Barningham is between Barnard Castle and Richmond. Barnard Castle is about a 15-minute drive. The Bowes Museum is there, and it's worth a visit. Richmond is about 20-25 minutes away. It has a big market square and the castle.
For walks, you're on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Barningham Moor itself has old burial mounds and carvings on stones. For a big day out, High Force waterfall is roughly half an hour by car. The North York Moors and the Lake District are both within an hour and a half if you want to drive further.
