Mill Cottage is near West Layton, about halfway between Richmond and Barnard Castle.
It's a barn conversion for two people. Everything is on the ground floor. It's one bedroom with a big bed that can be split into two singles if needed. There's one bathroom with a double-ended bath and a shower over it.
It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's done to a high standard, with underfloor heating and things like that. It's warm and comfortable.
The ceiling is full height with the old wooden A-frames still showing. There are chickens and ducks wandering about outside. They might visit the garden.
You're on the edge of the owner's land, with views over fields. Parking is right outside.
There's a farm shop about a mile away for local produce. The nearest pub for food is a couple of miles down the road in the village.
Richmond is seven miles east. It's a nice market town with a castle, a theatre, and some good tea shops. Barnard Castle is seven miles west. You've got the Bowes Museum and the castle itself there.
Durham city is about a 30 minute drive. It's a World Heritage Site with the cathedral. You can get to Teesside or Northumbria universities in about 35 minutes if you're visiting someone.
For walking, you're 30 minutes from the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. There are plenty of footpaths right from the door as well.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
