This is Turnip Cottage. It's on our farm in West Layton. The place is a converted barn, so it's got the oak beams and stone floors you'd expect. It's semi-detached. The garden is yours to use, it's enclosed. The view from the back is over our fields, it's very quiet out there.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. Two of them have king-size beds, one has a double. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite to the main bedroom with a shower and a bath. The other is a shower room.
Downstairs is mostly one big room. The kitchen's at one end with an island and a big table, the living area's at the other with sofas. French doors lead out to the patio from both sides. It's a good space for a group.
We're on a working farm, so you'll see us and the animals coming and going. The cottage is separate though, you've got your own parking and entrance. We're a mile from the local shop and pub.
For getting out, you're well placed. The A1 and A66 are close, so you can get to places easily. Richmond's about ten miles, it's a nice market town with a castle by the river. Barnard Castle is a bit further, maybe twenty five minutes drive. The Bowes Museum is there if you like that sort of thing.
The North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are both within half an hour or so for walking. For a day at the coast, Whitby or Saltburn are about an hour's drive.
In terms of what's here: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, a cot and a highchair. You can bring one dog. The parking is right outside.
