Turnip Cottage

Turnip Cottage is on our farm in West Layton. It's a barn conversion, semi-detached with the other cottage. The views from here are good. It's quiet, you just hear the animals and birds.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one is an en-suite to the main bedroom with a bath and a separate shower. The other is a shower room. It's a 5 Star place, so it's well finished and comfortable.

The stairs are wooden and a bit steep, typical for a barn. The main space downstairs is open plan, kitchen and living area. There's a big table. French doors go out to the garden, which is enclosed. There's a barbecue and furniture out there. You get that to yourselves.

We're a working farm, so you'll see us and the animals going about. The dog needs to be on a lead when you're outside the garden fence, because of the livestock.

The village pub is about a mile away, they do food. The nearest shop is about the same. For a bigger shop, Richmond is 15 minutes by car. It's a proper market town with a castle. Barnard Castle is about 20 minutes drive. The Bowes Museum is there. For walks, you can go straight from the door onto the farm tracks and footpaths.

The location is handy. You're close to the A1 and A66, so you can get around. The Yorkshire Dales are about half an hour west. North York Moors are about 45 minutes to the east.

Included facilities: all bedding and towels, washing machine, dishwasher, TV, highchair and cot available. There's parking right outside. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
