High Dalton Hall Cottage is right about here in Newsham. It's a converted stone barn on our working hill farm, so it's detached and on its own. You get all the views over the fields and Teesdale.
It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everything's on one level which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. There are oak beams and a wood burner in a big inglenook fireplace, which is nice in the evenings.
You're on a farm, so you'll see sheep and cattle in the fields. There are ducks on the pond. It's quiet. We leave a welcome tray for you when you arrive.
Outside, there's a patio area with a hot tub. You can sit in it and look out at the countryside.
For walking, there are public footpaths straight from the door into the fields. The Yorkshire Dales National Park isn't far. Richmond is the main town nearby, about a 15-minute drive. It's a proper Georgian market town on the River Swale, with decent pubs and shops. They have a market.
Within about half an hour you can get to Barnard Castle and the Bowes Museum. Places like Leyburn, Reeth, and Northallerton are also in range. Durham is about 40 minutes if you want a day out at the cathedral.
There's a pub serving food about a mile away. The nearest shop is in Romanby, roughly three miles.
Facilities include the hot tub, WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are provided. There's parking right outside. We can provide a cot and a highchair. No pets, I'm afraid.
