3 The Reading Room Cottages is in Barningham village. It's one of a pair of cottages, semi-detached, but you have your own bit of garden. It's on the Barningham Estate.
It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating which means it's comfortable and well looked after. The front door is level, so it's fine for a wheelchair or anyone with mobility issues.
The local pub is literally next door, about 25 yards. They do food. There's a village shop and bakery about 500 yards away.
The cottage used to be where villagers came to read the paper. It's furnished with a mix of old and new things.
For walks, you can go straight out onto Barningham Moor. There are Bronze Age things up there, like burial mounds and carved stones. Barnard Castle is a short drive away and has a supermarket, shops, and the Bowes Museum. Richmond is about 12 miles, with the castle and a market square.
Further out, within about an hour, you've got places like Raby Castle, High Force waterfall, and the Forbidden Corner near Leyburn.
It says fishing and shooting can be arranged privately through the estate if that's your thing.
The facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
