Dove Cottage
Dove Cottage is in Barnard Castle, right off the main street. It's a little terraced place, one of a row. It's not huge, but that's the point. You can be in a pub in five minutes.
It sleeps two, but it's got two separate bedrooms. One bathroom with a shower. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and functional. Honestly, the second bedroom is small. It's there if you want the space, but most people using the cottage for two just use the main one.
The garden is out the back. It's a patio really, with a bench and a bit of grass. It's quiet because it backs onto an alley. The kitchen is simple. There's a TV and a washer. Bedding and towels are included.
Like I said, the town is on your doorstep. Good pubs, a few restaurants, coffee shops. The main thing here is the castle and the river. It's a nice walk down to the Tees. The Bowes Museum is here as well, if you like that sort of thing.
You can bring one dog. There's an extra charge for that.
For driving around: Raby Castle is about fifteen minutes away. High Force waterfall and the North Pennines are maybe half an hour. Durham is about forty minutes if you want the cathedral.
