Swan Cottage

Swan Cottage is on the edge of Barnard Castle town centre. It's a small terraced house. You can walk to everything in five minutes, but it's on a quiet street.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs are steep, like most old cottages.

The back garden is small with a patio and a table. It looks out over the river. Inside, there's a wood burning stove, which is nice in the winter. There's a dishwasher and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included.

Barnard Castle is a proper market town. There's a good mix of shops, cafes and a few pubs. The Bowes Museum is a ten minute walk away. It's a big French-style mansion with a park. The famous Silver Swan automaton is there.

You can walk from the cottage down to the river and the castle ruins. The Teesdale footpaths start right there.

If you drive, Raby Castle is about fifteen minutes away. High Force waterfall is about half an hour. For a bigger day out, Durham city is forty minutes. The North Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales are both within easy reach.
