The Old Chapel Briscoe

The Old Chapel is in Briscoe, up in Baldersdale. It's a single-storey place, so everything's on one level. You can see straight out over the moor from the front. It was a chapel, so it's got those big arched windows which are nice.

It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable, but we've kept the old feel of it. The patio is enclosed, so it's fine for a dog. You can sit out there with a drink.

It's very quiet up here. The night sky is something else, honestly. No street lights. You're right in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are footpaths straight from the door. The Pennine Way is close by. Hannah Hauxwell's old farm is just along the road if you know about her.

Barnard Castle is about six miles away for shops, pubs, and a proper supermarket. The castle is good for a look around, and the Bowes Museum is there too. It's a big French-style place with all sorts in it, you can't miss it.

Within half an hour you've got the whole of Teesdale. High Force waterfall is about twenty minutes away. For a day out, Beamish Museum is just under an hour's drive. The Lake District is about the same, but heading west.

In the house, there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a TV. WiFi is included. All the bedding and towels are there. Parking is right outside. We allow one well-behaved dog.
